Event Buyers Live partners with ecolibrium to tackle carbon emissions

Event Buyers Live, which takes place from November 29 – December 1, 2021, has partnered with ecolibrium, the events industry charity, to acknowledge and address the event’s travel carbon emissions.

Staff and speaker travel will be measured and reduced where possible with unavoidable emissions balanced through ecolibrium’s climate solutions programmes, Energy Revolution and Trees+. These programmes support clean renewable energy generation, as well as the planting, protection and regeneration of forests and ecosystems, working in partnership with people and communities facing the worst effects of climate change. Event attendees will have the opportunity to calculate and balance their travel emissions through ecolibrium.

Chris Johnson, CEO of ecolibrium, explained: “At Event Buyers Live 2019, I had the pleasure of chatting with a number of event organisers about event and festival sustainability.

“I am really pleased to be returning to the industry event, working with the event’s production team to help them measure the carbon emissions created by travel.

“It’s incredibly important that an industry event walks the walk and leads by example. What’s also great news is the fact that EBL21 is taking place at De Vere Orchard Hotel, which recently won a CHS Award for its sustainability achievements.”

Event Buyers Live has adopted a range of sustainable measures for the event, including refillable water stations, a paper-less and reusable badging system from Blendology, digital signage, and electric car charging points.

Neil Fagg, event director of Event Buyers Live, commented on the partnership: “Environmental issues and the importance of sustainability continue to feature in mainstream media and because of that, event and festival-goers expect organisers to create events that meet their growing green expectations.

“We are delighted to be working with ecolibrium to try and make Event Buyers Live a travel carbon neutral event. To reiterate Chris’ statement, we educate the market on sustainability through Stand Out magazine, and we must now practice what we preach. As an organiser, it’s important to show that we too can make a difference.”

Now in its seventh year, Event Buyers Live will facilitate pre-arranged face-to-face meetings between prominent event organisers and suppliers. Event Buyers Live has built a strong reputation for business networking, an insightful education programme and the sharing of industry knowledge. The industry event facilitates pre-arranged meetings between only 100 live event organisers and just 45 event suppliers and venues.
