ecolibrium announce Bath and West Community Energy as Energy Revolution partner

Travel carbon balancing donations to ecolibrium’s Energy Revolution programme from our community of festivals, events, event audiences, suppliers and music companies in 2021, will support two community benefit renewable energy generation projects: In December 2021 we welcomed our first partner Energy Garden London, and we are delighted to announce our second Energy Revolution partner: Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE) a not-for-profit enterprise delivering renewable energy, energy supply and energy efficiency projects through a community-owned energy model.

BWCE are one of the largest community energy businesses in the country, and have helped build a wide range of community owned solar PV projects and one small hydro scheme, as well as recycling nearly £300,000 back into local community projects through their charity.

The 2021 investment from ecolibrium will contribute to Bath and West Community Energy’s new fund to develop further community solar generation projects in Bath and the surrounding area, in particular rooftop solar on schools within the community, which will reduce the cost of energy for the schools and significantly reduce their annual carbon emissions.

Find out how ecolibrium members’ donations will also help BWCE and build on their work to reduce carbon emissions, encouraging behaviour change and generate community benefit here.

In 2021, ecolibrium’s community of members worked together to tackle the environmental impacts of travel emissions in the live events industry reducing travel emissions and donating to balance unavoidable emissions by investing in climate solutions.  In total over 35 festivals, events, event audiences, suppliers and music companies balanced over 1,342 tonnes of travel CO2, the equivalent of over six million travel miles with donations going to ecolibrium’s two programmes: Energy Revolution which in invests in community projects generating clean renewable energy or Trees+; supporting projects working to restore and protect ecosystems on the frontline of climate change; sinking and sequestering carbon.  Find out more about our Trees+ partners for 2021 and previous years’ Energy Revolution partners here.
