Event Buyers Live 2020 partners with ecolibrium to tackle carbon emissions

All travel associated with the organisation of Event Buyers Live 2020, the industry buyer meets supplier event, is to be balanced to create a travel carbon neutral event through ecolibrium’s Energy Revolution programme.

Event Buyers Live, which takes place from November 23-25, 2020 – has formed a partnership with ecolibrium to balance the carbon emissions caused by staff and speaker travel. Furthermore, all delegates attending the event will be offered the opportunity to carbon balance their travel and 100 per cent of all funds generated will be invested in projects that create clean renewable energy.

“At Event Buyers Live 2019, I had the pleasure of chatting with a number of event organisers about event and festival sustainability,” explained Chris Johnson, CEO of ecolibrium. “I am really pleased to be returning to the industry event, working with the event’s organising team to help them measure the carbon emissions created by travel.

“It’s incredibly important that an industry event walks the walk and leads by example. What’s also great news is the fact that EBL20 is taking place at De Vere Orchard Hotel, which recently won a CHS Award for its sustainability achievements.”

ecolibrium will support Event Buyers Live to calculate the carbon emissions generated and will provide a range of tools that the organising team can share with partners and stakeholders so that they can become members of ecolibrium and/or balance their travel emissions to EBL 2020.

Members of the ecolibrium team will be present at the event to explain the impacts of travel and the solutions it offers to event organisers, suppliers, artists, production and audiences.

Neil Fagg, event director of Event Buyers Live, commented on the partnership: “Environmental issues and the importance of sustainability continue to feature in mainstream media and because of that, event and festivalgoers expect event organisers to create events that meet their growing green expectations.

“We are delighted to be working to make Event Buyers Live a travel carbon neutral event. To reiterate Chris’ statement, we educate the market on sustainability through Stand Out, and we must now practice what we preach and show as an organiser that we too can make a difference.”
